Tampa Will See The Closest Thing To a NSync Concert Tonight
Justin Timberlake surprised many when he showed up for the rumored NSync reunion at the MTV Video Music Awards this week. Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick joined Timberlake on stage for the first time in years. The other guys in the group still cash in on the boyband’s nostalgia. But after leaving NSync, Timberlake instead focused on his solo music and acting.
But after that MTV reunion, NSync fans thought it was a sure thing that the boyband is back together and will tour. TMZ says it’s not happening. They cite sources in the know who deny any plans exist for any kind of concert tour or new album. The only thing NSync fans can anticipate is a new song for “Trolls Band Together” movie. It’ll be the first time the group has put out new music together in 20 years. But that’s it. Put the credit card away.
There is, however, a little something for 90s boyband fans to look forward to in Tampa this weekend. Joey Fatone from NSync is bringing AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys to Tampa Theatre tonight for a “Welcome to Tampa 90s Party.” The show is sold out. I didn’t even see any tickets on reseller websites like Stub Hub. The Ruth Eckerd Hall website (they’re presenting the show) promises to reveal “the complete line-up soon,” but the show is tonight. Will Justin Timberlake pop by? Doubtful.
Fans of the Backstreet Boys have another chance to go back in time with Tampa’s own Nick Carter plays a solo show in Tampa at Morsani Hall at The Straz Center October 22. There are tickets left for that show starting at about $50. Maybe Nick will show up tonight at Joey’s show to plug his show and sing along?
