Ticket prices for Opening Day for the Tampa Bay Rays at The Trop might make your jaw drop.

It's the game that always sells out at Tropicana Field. Opening Day for the Tampa Bay Rays is one month from today: Thursday, March 28. The Rays will take on the Toronto Blue Jays at a special 4:10pm start. For those who remember my story about the Rays offering $10 tickets for games this season, you might be surprised to know that the ticket price of the cheapest seat in the house is for this one. Those $10 seats are gone.

The cheapest tickets left for Opening Day

As of this morning, the cheapest seats for the Tampa Bay Rays Opening Day at The Trop are priced at $70. And those are far from the best seats in the house. The $70 tickets are all in the outfield in sections 130 through 148 and sections 129 through 147.

Want a better view? The choices at gametime.co are slim if you want to get in for under $100. The best seats in that price range are in section 122 for $92. Keep in mind also that these prices do not include the standard fees that will get added on later at checkout.

Home plate seats

Need the best seat in the house? There are some seats that get you super close left. So how much will you have to shell out for seats behind home plate on Opening Day? I found some lower infield box seats high up in Section 102 for $150. Fieldside Box seats in Sections 109-115 near the Toronto dugout are selling for $225.

Want to pay WAY less?

Are those high ticket prices too much for you? There's an easy way to see the Rays play the Blue Jays at a fraction of the cost. Don't be a Rays Instagram fan. Just go the next day. Sure you won't come off as cool on social media for being there on Opening Day. But is that really important to you? You've waited all winter for the Rays to be back. Can you wait another 24 hours? Sure you won't get that opening day giveaway of a team schedule magnet. But I think you can live without one right?

Those $10 seats I mentioned ARE available for the Rays second game of the season on Friday, March 29 at 6:50PM. $10 seats remain in the corners in Sections 129, 130, 131 and 132. There are also quite a few left in the 300 level in the outfield in sections 341 through 355.

The View From The WORST Seat at Tropicana Field

You would think Row 1, seat 1 would be great right? Not in this case. Seats right behind home plate at Tropicana Field are expensive. A seat in Section 103 for tonight's game starts at $300. So where should you look at The Trop seating chart when you're looking for less pricy tickets to a Tampa Bay Rays game? There really aren't that many bad places to watch. But we can tell you one seat NOT to pick. It's been deemed the WORST seat at Tropicana Field by Bookies.com.

They did a study of every Major League Baseball park to find the absolute worst seat in the house. Seats with an obstructed view and the distance from home plate were taken into consideration. They even measured how far seats are from things like concession stands and bathrooms. At Tropicana Field, they say you'll find no worse seat than the one near the left field corner in Section 129. Lucky for you Rays fans, I found it and took some photos.

So yeah maybe avoid Section 129, Row G, Seat 1. Although maybe you'll get a free souvenir. Lots of foul balls head out that way. Want to see the worst seat in the house at other Major League Baseball Parks? Head here!

First go to Section 129.

Walking halfway down, the view is already getting rough.

Mazzaros-27.jpg

Head to Row G... that's the front row. You'd think a front row seat would be great right?

Mazzaros-34.jpg

Then find your way to Seat 1. Row 1, Seat 1. SOUNDS good.

Yikes. This is your view.

Mazzaros-25-1.jpg

You can see the banners ok with good binoculars.

Keep in mind too this is the view BEFORE fans sitting in that pit area arrived.

Mazzaros-36.jpg

One perk I guess ... if you're a fan of the visiting team, you do get an up close view of the action in their bullpen.

You may not have a great view of the action at the plate, but you can watch people eat from their plates.

The view of the roof isn't so bad.

I think we know why Ryan didn't show up now.

Mazzaros-24-1.jpg

He might've just decided to stay home and watch on TV. Look at that big pole blocking a lot of the view of home plate.

Mazzaros-20-1.jpg

I think Brett is laughing at you for picking these seats. The outfielders are pretty much the only ones you'll see well.

Or just spend more and get a seat behind home plate.
