Finally some good news to pass along regarding Tampa Bay Lightning national anthem singer Sonya Bryson! She’s been having a really rough go of it with COVID-19. Shortly after the Lightning’s Stanley Cup celebrations, Sonya realized she had COVID-19. Sonya has MS so this was especially dangerous for her. Sonya was hospitalized about 2 weeks ago and this past week has been spent intensive care with big spikes in her temperature. But we finally have the good news to pass along!
Sonya’s husband Jimmie says she’s now out of ICU. Sonya is still having issues with breathing but her fever has gone down. For now, Sonya has been moved to a recovery room. They say she’s not close to 100% yet, but after spending days on end in intensive care, this is certainly good news! Jimmie’s news comes to us from a tweet this morning from Lightning in game host Greg Wolf.
By the way, that isn’t the only good news. As of this morning, that GoFundMe set up for Sonya is just about $1,000 short of the $20,000 goal. Our love to you Sonya… keep fighting! We can’t wait to hear you sing as they raise another Stanley Cup championship banner in October at Amalie Arena!
