Clearwater Business Founder Gives Employees $10,000 & First Class Airfare Anywhere
Talk about a Christmas bonus! If your boss gave you $10,000 and two first class airplane tickets to fly anywhere in the world, where would you go? That’s the dilemma employees of Sara Blakely are finding themselves in, according to Fox 13.
Blakely is the founder of Spanx, the underwear maker that sells shaping briefs and leggings that make you look thinner. Apparently Spanx just struck a big deal with investment management company Blackstone. The deal must’ve been a good one because at a company meeting last week, Blakely let employees know they’re going on a vacation anywhere in the world. They’ll be flown first class and will give given $10,000 to spend. She delivered the news after toasting her employees and spinning a globe.
Blakely started the company back in 2000 with $5,000 in savings. She grew up in Clearwater. When Oprah named Spanx one of “her favorite things,” Spanx’s popularity exploded.
