The 5 Florida Counties With The Most COVID-19 Cases
Curious how Tampa Bay compares with other areas in Florida with COVID-19 cases? We’re actually doing quite a bit better than most of the state. Here are the top 5 counties in Florida with the highest number of COVID-19 cases based percentage of its population.
#1: Miami-Dade (27.5%)
The Miami area had both the largest number of cases per capita. Miami also had the most loss of life with 3,408 deaths per million residents.
#2: Lafayette County (25.8%)
If you haven’t heard of Lafayette County, it’s probably because it’s the second-least populous county in Florida. It’s located about an hour southeast of Tallahassee.
#3: Hardee County (22.8%)
The county south of Lakeland includes Wauchula, Limestone and Gardner.
#4: Liberty County (22.2%)
Located to the southwest of Tallahassee.
#5: Jackson County (21.4%)
This northern part of Florida borders Georgia and Alabama.
What about the Tampa Bay area?Sarasota County had the 6th lowest percentage of COVID-19 cases based on their population. Citrus (13.9%), Pasco (14.7%) and Pinellas County (14.2%) were not far behind.
