Rare “Roll Cloud” Forms Over Parrish
This morning, a Parrish woman was able to snap a pic of a rare cloud formation. Paul Delegatto from Fox 13 says these roll clouds are not seen often… let alone captured in a photo. Delegatto says roll clouds like this form before a thunderstorm.
Rarely seen roll cloud over Parrish this morning! Roll clouds can form in advance of thunderstorms and appear to “roll” across the sky. 📷 Mary de Geef in Parrish. #Florida pic.twitter.com/MNj5eiuCI0

Wikipedia says they’re actually called volutus clouds. They are NOT associated with funnel clouds or tornado activity.
Roll clouds are low to the ground and tube-shaped. The “rolling” is due to a variation in speed and direction of the wind.
Did you capture any pics of it? Tag @GenoRadio and I’ll share it below.
