80s Halloween Candy Memories in Seffner

A Sunday morning breakfast at Cracker Barrel means a stop first in the gift shop perusing Halloween candy from your childhood. Here were some of my favorite treasures I spotted this morning from my trick-or-treat years in the 80s.

Reese’s peanut butter cups were the gold standard, but Snickers, Milky Way, M&Ms, Butterfinger and 100 Grand were on the top tier of my 80s Halloween candy bag scores. Kit Kats, Almond Joy, Mounds, and candy corn… those all were handed over to my mother. She got my Halloween Hand Me Downs.

Cracker Barrel still carries some other classics that spoiled my dinner for the first few weeks of every November.

  Nerds were one of my major food groups in junior high school. I like the old school boxes though with the divider with 2 flavors. This new 2023 design looks like a medication box.

  I still probably have teeth stuck in Sugar Daddy pops in some landfill. This was the most frustrating candy to eat.

  If you're handing out one pound Reese's peanut butter cups at your house for Halloween this year, I'm coming out of trick-or-treat retirement.

  I loved these. The lemon ones were my first pick.

  This giant bag of Dubble Bubble can provide about 45 seconds of great bubble gum flavor.

  You had to be very careful when you raided your trick-or-treat bag. Smarties were awesome. BUT...

  ... be careful they weren't Necco wafers. I can't believe they still make these frauds.

  One of my favorites back in the day. I think they still sell these though even in Publix right?

  Another gum that was all about the prop. The flavor lasted nanoseconds.

  Pretty sure my dentist could still find pieces of wax from these from 1982.

  These were tasty but let's be honest. As a kid, the entire appeal was to pretend you were eating worms.

  Now for some other stuff I saw. Hmmm when did these debut? I like it.

  Most Floridians probably have no idea what Moxie is. It's a thing from my home state of Maine. It's AWFUL. It's like licorice soda. Worst stuff ever.

  New Port Richey has had the most $1,000 winners the past couple weeks. Maybe you should come get some of this Pasco Magic.

  OK enough shopping and reminiscing. Time to eat. I had the Stuffed Cheesecake Pancakes with strawberries and strawberry syrup. Wow. It was as good as it sounds.
