Chris Meledandri, the producer of "Despicable Me" franchise, has been handed the project by Universal Pictures. "Puss In Boots", the spinoff of "Shrek", will also get a reboot.
The plan is to keep the voices of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas.
The first of the four "Shrek" movie came out in 2001. After the fourth came out in 2010, there was talk of a fifth but it never came to be. "Puss In Boots" came out in 2011 and a planned sequel has been shelved for several years.
