Pasco County Sheriff’s Office Warns Of Phone Scam Using Duke Energy
Pasco County residents beware-Scammers are trying to fool you using Duke Energy as their ploy! This is how the scam works:
Calls are being made to Pasco County residences claiming to be representatives from Duke Energy. The caller has the address and name of the account holder, and will help the account holder set up a payment through an express payment to keep the power from being turned off.
The number sheriff’s department deputies have identified is showing up as 877-353-3958, and caller ID is showing ‘Duke Energy’.
The REAL Duke Energy will not try to retrieve a payment this way. If you get this call, hang up and call the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
