Donate Those Gasparilla Beads For A Good Cause!
After you’ve collected all those beads at the Gasparilla invasion and parade, what will you do with them? You can donate and recycle them!
You can bring the beads to the MacDonald Training Center or one of their drop-off spots and they will repackage them to raise money to help people with autism and Down syndrome.
Krispy Kreme, located at 3113 W Kennedy Blvd., will give coupons for free doughnuts if you donate at least 12 pounds of beads. They are doing this only on Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Florida Aquarium is offering discounts on admission if you bring them your beads. 10 pounds of beads will earn a $10 discount on an admission ticket. 30 pounds will get you free admission.
Beads cannot be recycled in streetside recycling because they will affect the county’s recycling equipment.
