Some Wesley Chapel Stores Charging Extra Half Percent Fee
If you’re shopping in the Cypress Creek Town Center, you might wish to check to see if the store you’re in which you’re shopping is charging an extra .5% on top of the state and local taxes. Here’s what it’s all about.
WFLA Newschannel 8 went to HomeGoods where the store had posted at the door of the extra fee.
Not all of the stores in the shopping center were charging it. The Pasco County Tax Collector said that the fee is legal. It doesn’t, however, go to the state, county, or to the store itself. The fee goes to the developer of the shopping center.
It’s unknown what the Public User Fee (PUF) of .5% goes to, according to Newschannel 8.
