First Named Storm About To Form Off Florida
The Atlantic hurricane season doesn’t begin until June 1, but the first named storm could form off the Florida coast later today or Saturday.
As a wave traveled across the Florida Straits and toward The Bahamas, it has moved into an area where conditions are becoming favorable for a system to form. Don’t panic-the system isn’t expected to have any direct impact on Florida. The National Hurricane Center predicts a high probability of storm formation. If the system becomes a storm, it would be named Arthur.
