Tampa Bay Lightning’s Alex Killorn Raises Nearly $50,000 For Hillsborough Education
With help from his web series, ‘Dock Talk With Killer’, the Lightning forward is helping to give back to his community.
Alex Killorn, a Harvard graduate who made his NHL debut for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2012-2013 season, found a way to spend his time during this COVID-19 break in the season. He began his web series in which he’d hop onto his jet ski and travel around Tampa Bay to chat with familiar faces, including other Lightning players, Buccaneers and Rays. He even had Saturday Night Live’s Keenan Thompson join him for an episode.
With his educational background, plus being the son of a teacher, Killer has supported educational programs. The show became so popular that he was able to sell “Dock Talk with Killer” t-shirts and was able to raise $48,000 that he has donated to the Hillsborough Education Foundation. Much of this money can go toward helping students who don’t have the money to have the digital resources to learn at home. It can also help teachers who put their own money into purchasing supplies for their classrooms.
You can find the t-shirts here.
