It’s clear that the 2020 college football season will not be the same as it has been in past years. The Florida Gators have announced how they will handle the season, their fans and traditions.

First, the rules set up for Ben Hill Griffith Stadium were handed down to the school. The 88,000 seat sttadium will be limited to 17,000, or roughly 1/5 it’s capacity. Masks will be required for all fans when they enter the stadium, during the entire game, and when they leave. The only time fans will be permitted to remove masks are while eating or drinking. Anyone not following face covering guidelines will risk loss of ticket privileges.

According to FloridaGators.com, other rules set down by the governing body, the University Athletic Association, include the cancelling of certain
Florida Gators football traditions:

  • No Tailgating on campus
  • Gator Walk will not occur in 2020
  • Gator Walk Village is not being set up for 2020
  • No Gators Fan Fest
  • No Spirit Teams on the sidelines

While inside the stadium, these health safety protocols were announced:

  • Signage inside the stadium will list guidelines and enhanced cleaning procedures
  • Physical distancing will be required entering and leaving the stadium
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be placed throughout the stadium
  • Strict physical distancing of six feet between groups will be asked of fans
  • Mobile ticketing will be used to keep contact to a minimum

The five regular season HOME games for the Florida Gators are:
October 3: South Carolina
October 17: LSU
October 24: Missouri
November 14: Arkansas
November 28: Kentucky

Here’s the press release from the University of Florida. The release notes that there is not yet an update on the Florida/Georgia game.
