Clearwater Police Dashcam Catches Lightning At Beach
This is proof that there it’s not safe to be on the beach during a storm.
It is storm season, so not every story about lightning is about our Stanley Cup winning team. This one is about the kind that will send dogs hiding.
A Clearwater Police Department cruiser was near Clearwater Beach when its dashcam caught images of lightning close by. Very close by. The officer needed to tell people being in the beach is the wrong place to be.
The beach is no place to be when lightning is near. Just ask @NWSTampaBay. These images were captured safely from inside one of our cruisers. An officer had to tell multiple people that they shouldn’t be on the beach for their own safety. pic.twitter.com/iW3ldSwUSJ

The Clearwater Police Department also posted a video of lighting over the gulf.
Storms packing plenty of dangerous lightning are moving through #Clearwater. As @NWSTampaBay says, when thunder roars, head indoors. Now would be a good time to be indoors. pic.twitter.com/vFxrufpDKr

Clearwater Beach sunsets…
When it’s not storming, you can get some amazing sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico.
