Another step toward high-speed rail has been achieved.
The Central Florida Expressway Authority, who builds, maintains and operates the expressway system for five counties of central Florida, has approved a resolution that supports Brightline in it’s planned expansion.
The Brightline high-speed railway currently runs from Miami to West Palm Beach. The leg from West Palm Beach to Orlando is currently under construction. Then there’s the final leg. That’s from Orlando to Tampa.
The resolution that was passed unanimously supports that final leg of expansion. Brightline now has the right to study a route between Orlando and Tampa along the I-4 corridor.
The Florida Chamber of Commerce is showing their support as well.
Proud of @GoBrightline for working to connect Miami/Orlando to Tampa - helping move more visitors and the 4m+ more FL residents who will call FL home by 2030. @ORLPartnership @TBPartnership #FL2030

The leg from West Palm Beach to Orlando International Airport is expected to be completed near the end of 2022.
