Former Tampa Bay Devil Rays Shortstop Dies At 45
It’s a sad day at the offices of the Tampa Bay Rays as the news of Julio Lugo was learned.
Julio Lugo played for the Rays during four seasons. from 2003-2006. The news came from his family. It’s believed his death was due to a heart attack. His 46th birthday would have been tomorrow, November 16.
Lugo also played for the Astros, Dodgers, Red Sox, Cardinals, Orioles and Braves. During his 12 season, Lugo hit 80 home runs (40 with Tampa Bay). He hit .269 and had 198 stolen bases. He earned a World Series ring in 2007 while with the Boston Red Sox.
During a game for the Rays against the Baltimore Orioles, Lugo hit a home run in the bottom of the 5th inning. Then, later in the SAME inning, he did it again. You can see in the video below.
