News Channel 8 Reporter Reveals Why She’s Been Absent From TV
When a reporter has been away for a while, sometimes it’s because they’ve changed jobs. This one explains why she’s been missing, and we’re wishing her the best!
Melanie Michael’s bio on the News Channel 8 website tells us since she joined the station, she’s loved living in the Tampa area. It also tells us that she loves to cover stories at the courthouse.
Sadly, Melanie was covering the home opener for the Tampa Bay Lightning when this incident occurred. Though she didn’t say exactly how it happened, she hit her head on pavement. She’s been recovering for the last month and half from what she describes in a Tweet as “a sever brain injury & spinal injuries.”
She misses her fans, friends and team, and we’re hoping for a speedy recovery.
This is difficult to share, but it’s time. For the past 44 days, I’ve been recovering from a severe brain injury & spinal injuries. I hit my head on the pavement while covering #Bolts home opener. Recovering slowly, miss my @WFLA fam, friends & my team. See you soon💙 #grateful pic.twitter.com/6d2yEmEOFO
