Pinellas County hasn't been happy with what they need to pay for their share of the Cross Bay Ferry service. Now we know what will happen to the ferry.

County commissioners were looking for a new way to participate with the ferry service. However, they didn't want to subsidize more than what they believed was their share. According to Tampa Bay Business Journal, Pinellas County has come to an agreement with the city of St. Petersburg to split the cost.

Pinellas County paid $190,000 last year for their share of the cost. Under their new agreement, they'll only pay $38,000 for the next year. Meanwhile, the the county and city of St. Petersburg will pay a lump sum of $129,500, covering the three years of the new contract.

Pinellas County scrubbed the plan that had been in place. Now that there's a new agreement, Pinellas joins Hillsborough County for the Cross Bay Ferry.

If you're not familiar with this ferry, it's seasonal service that begins October 1st. It has stops in St. Petersburg and Tampa. The terminal in St. Petersburg is located on Bayshore Drive NE between 2nd Avenue North and 5th Avenue North near North Straub Park. The Tampa terminal is located by the Tampa Convention Center near the Sail Restaurant.

It costs adults $10 each way. For seniors, military, college students and youth it's $8 each way. Passengers in wheelchairs, $5 each way and children 4 and under are free (accompanied by an adult). Click here for the ferry schedule.
